The walk
Why did the hysteria of 1692 begin, and how did it spread? Led by local historians, teachers and authors, this 90-minute walk looks at the people, the theories and the personal stories behind the Salem witch trials, in which more than 200 people were accused and 25 died.
Stops include the Witch Trials Memorial, the old burying ground, the Witch House, the sites of the sheriff's office and the courthouse, and the spot where Giles Corey was pressed to death. The tour starts at 8 Central St, next to Emporium 32.
