What is there to do with children?

We’re glad you asked. We get this all the time about Salem. Well, parents know their kids better than we do and some of them can handle the grown-up tours and attractions. But if you’re not sure your kids can handle some of the those, then here is a list of what you can do with younger children.

Here are some ideas to do for kids to consider:

Bit Bar (278 Derby Street) is restaurant and arcade where you can eat and play. They have classic arcade and pinball games and creative comfort food in a historic and fun setting!

This fun place has miniature golf, go-kart rides and ice cream for kids and “adult-kids.” There is also a golf driving range across the street. You’re guaranteed to have a fun time with us. It’s a great place to take your family on an outing. They also have birthday party packages too.

The Good Witch (2 North Street) of Salem is a positive teacher and wellness role model for young children. The Good Witch's mission is shared through magical and engaging content and events. This mission is reinforced through a retail line of educational resources, children's clothing and accessories, and imaginative toys

The House of the Seven Gables (115 Derby Street) was built in 1668 by merchant and ship-owner John Turner but is best known today as the inspiration for world-renowned American author Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1851 novel. Enjoy public programs, events and embark on tours of the historic mansion that include the secret staircase. Or relax on the seaside lawn and enjoy the gardens and views of Salem Harbor.

Maritime National Park (160 Derby Street) is the first National Historic Site in the US. Salem Maritime National Historic comprises nine acres of land and twelve historic structures along the Salem waterfront, as well as a downtown visitor center. Real Pirates (285 Derby Street) immerses yours in the stories of Real Pirates! The family-friendly pirate experience features the true tale of “Black Sam” Bellamy – the richest and one of the youngest pirates of all time – and Maria Hallett, the love of his life and so-called “Witch of Wellfleet.” You can actually touch real pirate treasure.
